The price to pass through the Panama Canal

SAN DIEGO– Each month, United Airlines onboard magazine The Hemispheres features their “Three Perfect Days” story which showcases a different destination each month. For their first publication in 2016, the destination is Panama City, which is infamous for its man-made canal.

The article was beautifully written by Joe Keohane and is complemented by breathtaking photographs provided by Chris Sorenson.

I’m an avid cruiser (I live in Colorado and being a Pacific Islander native, I MUST see the ocean) and I was astonished to read that it usually costs cruise ships nearly $500,000 to pass through the Panama Canal! If you’re an “average” ship, don’t worry the cost is a mere $85,000.

I can’t wait to put this on my bucket list.
Have you cruised through the Panama Canal? If so, please reach out to me and I would love to hear about your experience.
